Brother Sol was an original rock band that emerged from the vibrant and eclectic music scene in Austin, TX during the early 1990s. Comprising principal songwriter Ferni Lopez (formerly of Houston band Of Love and Justice) on vocals and guitar, Austin music veterans Bobby Solis on lead guitar and Bryan Derrick on bass, and Virginia transplant Mike DeCardenas on drums, they garnered attention in the local music scene with their passionate energy and distinctive sound.

While Brother Sol didn't officially release any studio recordings during their active years, a few of their live performances at the Steamboat club on 6th street in Austin, TX, in 1993 were captured on video for local Austin TV music programs. In 2021, Gradation Music has released these live recordings as an EP, showcasing the band's talents to a wider audience.

The EP, featuring the songs “All”, "Inside, Outside", "Blue Summer Hill" and “Santiago”, exhibits Brother Sol's unique blend of musical influences, grunge rock-inspired style and showcases their ability to create captivating melodies. These live video performances can also be enjoyed on the Gradation Music YouTube channel, allowing fans to fully experience the band's stage presence and their unique sound.

Although Brother Sol's time together was relatively short-lived, and despite the lack of studio releases, the live recordings preserved here by Gradation Music provide a glimpse into the band's powerful performances and their previously unheard contribution to the alternative music movement of the era.
